One of the fastest 1x aero carbon cranks!

The crank is one of the most complex components in terms of aerodynamics; the front becomes the rear 180 degrees later, the rider has the greatest influence on forward speed and a rather small influence on rotational speed, your feet turn sideways past the frame, the chain runs over the chainring and cannot really be changed aerodynamically, etc.

The aerodynamic profile of the 3T Torno is only 12mm wide in the pedal area and therefore significantly narrower than almost all other models (cranks are usually 15-17mm at the pedal end). In terms of width, the desired profile was much deeper than usual.

The transition to Spider is another problem area that 3T was able to improve. For structural and stiffness reasons, the developers at 3T wanted the Spider to be integrated into the crank arm and the fibers to run through both parts. However, they also wanted the chainring to be physically separated from the crank arm on the drive side (no Hiddenbolt) to avoid aerodynamic blockages. The Torno-Spider offers just that and works in harmony with the specially developed aero chainrings.

Note: The maximum system weight (rider + bike + luggage) is 110 kg.

Technologies of the 3T Torno

Narrow-Q :

• Narrow is aerodynamic and the ultra-thin crank arms offer a double advantage: they "cut" through the air more efficiently and reduce the Q-factor by 4 mm, keeping your feet closer together for better biomechanical and aerodynamic efficiency.

Dedicated 1x :

• The Torno is specifically optimized for 1x drivetrains. This allows 3T to use straight crank arms, making them more aerodynamic and lighter. It also allows for better integration of the spider. Perfect for your Strada or Exploro build.

Layup :

• Of course, the 3T designers can't reveal the exact construction, but they can say that it's not just a mix of different carbon modules, but a combination of unidirectional and woven plies. Contrary to what you often see, this weave is not cosmetic, but an integral part of the structure to achieve the incredible weight and stiffness of the Torno.

Carbon crankshaft:

• What makes THM special is the carbon axle integrated directly into the drive-side crank arm and spider. This is the stiffest and lightest design (and unfortunately also the most complex and expensive). But if only the best is good enough, this is the best.

Aero Spider :

• For aerodynamic reasons, the spider is spatially separated from the drive-side crank. However, it is structurally connected to the axle and the crank arm as well as the chainring, not only by the four bolts, but also by the (patent-pending) stepped design.
