Steering dampers effectively prevent the handlebars from turning over when parking (e.g. on a two-legged bike stand). The bike is thus much safer. The frame, light cables and other attachments are no longer damaged by the handlebars turning over. In addition, steering dampers increase the general riding comfort through greater stability and improved straight running (e.g. when riding with baskets or bags).
